What Else Is There?
Röyksopp Lyrics
It was me on that road
But you couldn't see me
Too many lights out, but nowhere near here
It was me on that road
Still you couldn't see me
And then flashlights and explosions
Roads end getting nearer
We cover distance but not together
I am the storm and I am the wonder
And the flashlights, nightmares
And sudden explosions
I don't know what more to ask for
I was given just one wish
It's about you and the sun
A morning run
The story of my maker
What I have and what I ache for
I've got a golden ear
I cut and I spear
What else is there?
Roads end getting nearer
We cover distance still not together
If I am the storm, if I am the wonder
Will I have flashlights, nightmares
And sudden explosions
There's no room where I can go and
You've got secrets too
I don't know what more to ask for
I was given just one wish

@MrZobiwan I think it's someone remembering hitting her with a car...haunted by her
"It was me on that road, but you couldn't see me...too many lights out, but nowhere near here.
It was me on that road, still you couldn't see me...and then flashlights and explosions." Pretty literal: she was on the road; it was dark but it's not where the person remembering currently is. Flashlights and explosions would be the wreck and responders with flashlights in the dark.
"Road's end getting nearer. We cover distance but not together." (Both are near the end of their journey...the driver to their destination and the singer to her death. They're both moving through time but in their separate lives.)
"I am the storm, I am the wonder." Open to interpretation, I think it's the emotional storm and the wondering "what if" of regret over the accident...or that she's haunting the driver?
My only other thought was that maybe they were in love or at the very least she loved the driver - "I don't know what more to ask for. I was given just one wish." She was granted a dying wish to be with the person she loved forever which means she is now haunting them...kinda sorta maybe?
That's the best I've got.
