Solito me quedé, llorando a mares
Vuelve a mí, ven amí
Vuelve a mí que espero tu regreso
...No sé porqué Dios hizo figuras
Tan hermosas
En forma de mujer que lastiman tanto...
Ay, NO SÉ PORQUÉ!
Ay, amor! Ay, amor!
Ay, amor! Porqué te fuiste de mi lado
Vuelve a mí,
Ven a mí,
VUELVE A Mí QUE ESPERO TU REGRESO
Ay, amor! Ay, amor!
Vuelve a mí, dulce bien
Vuelve a mí, dulce bien
Ven a mí, vuelve yaaa...
The lyrics of Rigo Tovar's Platicando Con Tu Retrato speak about the pain of separation and the regret and longing that follow. The singer laments the departure of his loved one and reveals that he was unable to keep her by his side due to his own pride. He is left alone, crying heavily, and his only source of comfort is her photograph, which he holds lovingly and speaks to in quiet moments. The singer beseeches his beloved to return to him, asking why she left and begging for her presence once again. He speaks of the beauty of women and the pain they can cause from the perspective of someone who has experienced both.

When you left my side
Solito me quedé, llorando a mares

I let you go away by yourself, sad and alone
Mi único consuelo, tu retrato
My only comfort, your photograph
El cual tome en mis manos, lentamente
I took it in my hands, slowly
Almost kissing the photograph as I looked at it
In silence, I spoke to it quietly
Ay, amor! Ay, amor!
Oh, love! Oh, love!
Ay, amor! Porqué te fuiste de mi lado
Oh, love! Why did you leave my side?
Vuelve a mí, ven amí
Come back to me, come to me
Vuelve a mí que espero tu regreso
Come back to me, I'm waiting for you
No sé porqué Dios hizo figuras
I don't know why God created shapes
