Williams has received a record 18 Brit Awards, winning Best British Male Artist four times, Outstanding Contribution to Music twice, an Icon Award for his lasting impact on British culture, eight German ECHO Awards, and three MTV European Music Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted the Greatest Artist of the 1990s. According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), he has been certified for 20.2 million albums and 8.66 million singles in the UK as a solo artist. Five of his albums have also topped the Australian albums chart, and has sold 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He also topped the 2000–2010 UK airplay chart. His three concerts at Knebworth in 2003 drew over 375,000 people, the UK's biggest music event to that point. In 2014, he was awarded the freedom of his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent and had a tourist trail created and streets named in his honour. Williams' thirteenth album, XXV was released on 9 September 2022.
After 15 years, Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 to co-write and perform lead vocals on their album Progress, which became the second-fastest-selling album in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century at the time. The subsequent stadium tour, which featured seven songs from Williams' solo career, became the biggest-selling concert in UK history when it sold 1.34 million tickets in less than 24 hours. In 2011, Take That frontman Gary Barlow confirmed that Williams had left the band for a second time to focus on his solo career, although he stated that the departure was amicable and that Williams was welcome to rejoin Take That in the future. Williams has since performed with Take That on three separate television appearances, and collaborated with Barlow on a number of projects such as the West End musical The Band.
Heart and I

I pray for my sanity
Where we don't have to answer to anyone 'bout anything
This is not like a brochure
Flying cars and sex machines
We are all so compliant
'Cause everything is what it seems
To tell you how loved you are
Or some kind of live device that holds you when you've gone too far
And I don't feel myself again
I thought I'd be fixed by now
Walking through the horizon, I found myself back here somehow
Give me something to die for
Or design a quiet mind
Something to like mankind for
Cause we don't lie, my heart and I.
You've been bending so long now
You think it's standing up
And they line up behind you to build you up, buttercup
We can lose all meaning
Quicker than a credit card
And not everyone's healing, so try your best and don't love too hard
Cause they can't build a satellite
To tell you what's in your heart
Or some kind of live device that holds you when you've gone too far
And I don't feel myself again
I thought I'd be fixed by now
Walking through the horizon, I found myself back here somehow
Give me something to die for
Or design a quiet mind
Something to like mankind for
Cause we don't lie, my heart and I.
Will I ever feel the waking
Naked as a lullaby
Don't ask me to explain again
I can't lie to my heart and I
And I don't feel myself again
I thought I'd be fixed by now
Walking through the horizon, I found myself back here somehow
Give me something to die for
Or design a quiet mind
Something to like mankind for
Cause we don't lie, my heart and I.
My heart and I
My heart and I
I've been feeling so lonely
Feeling so low
So low I almost let go.
In "Heart and I," Robbie Williams contemplates society's obsession with technology and whether it has helped or hindered human connections. He expresses a desire for a golden age where people are free from external judgments and expectations. The song is reflective of Williams's own experience of feeling lost and disconnected despite his fame and success.
In the first verse, Williams expresses his hope for a better future where people can live their lives without having to answer to anyone. He criticizes the idea of a future with flying cars and sex machines, questioning their practicality and dismissing them as mere marketing tactics. Williams also highlights society's compliance with the status quo and how it prevents individuals from exploring their true selves.
Williams then reiterates the theme of human connection in the second verse, warning listeners not to lose sight of what is truly important in life. He acknowledges that not everyone is healing and urges people to try their best and not love too hard. The bridge expresses Williams's desire for a moment of clarity where he can truly understand himself and his purpose.
Overall, "Heart and I" is a contemplative song that questions society's advancements and human connections. Williams acknowledges the difficulties of finding oneself amidst societal pressure but also expresses a hope for a future where true connection and freedom can exist.
