Când te-am cunoscut Cristina
Robin and the Backstabbers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Aveai părul frumos rău
Și o floare de măr
Îți ședea bine-n păr
Când se lasă seara peste București
Eu mă uit la fete dar văd că nu ești
Când se lasă seara peste București
Eu mă uit la tine dar văd că nu ești
Aveai părul frumos rău
Dar floarea de măr
Îți căzuse din păr
Când se lasă seara peste București
Eu mă uit la fete, dar văd că nu ești
Când se lasă seara peste București
Eu mă uit la tine, dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
Dar văd că nu ești
The song "Când te-am cunoscut Cristina" (When I met you, Cristina) by Robin and the Backstabbers tells a story of a man who reminisces about a past love named Cristina. The opening lyrics describe Cristina's appearance with her beautiful hair and a flower in it that suited her well. The chorus reveals that the singer is searching for Cristina in the evening in Bucharest, watching the other girls passing by but not finding her. The second verse talks about their separation, and how Cristina's flower fell from her hair. The chorus repeats, expressing the longing to see Cristina again.
The lyrics of the song evoke nostalgia and pain of lost love. The singer's search in Bucharest, a bustling city, creates a sense of loneliness and longing. The constant repetition of the phrase "Dar văd că nu ești" (But I see that you're not here) emphasizes the singer's inability to find his past love, which further expresses the theme of longing and loss.
The lyrics to this song are open to interpretation, and it is up to the listener to decide what the song means to them. Still, the melancholic tune and the story-like lyrics make it a moving and relatable song for anyone who has experienced the pain of lost love.
