Jimmy Was a Stimulator
Scott Weiland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Jimmy was a stimulator
He was a high flying stimulator
Jimmy was an oscillator
He was a high flying oscillator

Jimmy was a masturbator
So he'll call back and see ya later
Jimmy was a regulator
He could regulate a regulator

She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
Jimmy was a stimulator
He was a high flying stimulator

Jimmy was an emulator
He could stimulate an emulator
Jimmy was a master trainer
He could masturbate a fitness trainer

Jimmy was a regulator
He could regulate a regulator
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it

She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
We're going to the place where everything was shown
We're going to the place where everything was shown

She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it

She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it
She's so fine and I'm killing myself with it

Overall Meaning

"Jimmy Was a Stimulator" is a song by Scott Weiland from his debut solo album "12 Bar Blues" released in 1998. The song starts off with a series of statements like "Jimmy was a stimulator," "Jimmy was an oscillator," "Jimmy was a masturbator," and "Jimmy was a regulator." These lines suggest that Jimmy is a man who engages in activities that create a strong stimulus and rhythm in his life, such as masturbation, physical training, or regulating his own behavior. The refrain repeats the statement, "She's so fine, and I'm killing myself with it," suggesting that the singer is infatuated with a woman and is struggling to deal with the intensity of his feelings.

The lyrics of "Jimmy Was a Stimulator" use a lot of sexual imagery and language, which can be seen as a reflection of the frustration, anxiety and confusion that the singer is experiencing. The reference to the woman being so fine that he is "killing" himself with it suggests a sense of being overwhelmed by his attraction to her. The use of the name "Jimmy" could symbolize a more universal character, representing a man who is engaged in similar activities and experiencing similar emotions.

One interpretation of the song could be that it is a commentary on the excesses and excessiveness of modern life, particularly with regards to sex and love. The lyrics suggest that these activities are not always healthy or productive, but can be addictive and dangerous. The repetitive nature of the lyrics, with the same statements being repeated throughout the song, also suggests a sense of monotony and repetition in the singer's life.

I will give this album a listen at some other point, but my first impression is that it's awful and self indulgent.
