I Wanna Be a Homosexual
Screeching Weasel Lyrics

I wanna be a homosexual by The Screeching Weasels

*intro*

I've got a little lisp,
and i've been working on my limp wrist,
see women are a drag, i think i wanna be faggot, man
a mincing ninny, prancing fairy, merry little queen,
a Bruce LaBruce wet dream, a nancy boy with wings,
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be,

Shock the middle class, take it up your punk rock ass,
you rub your little when you see phoney dykes in penthouse magasine,
so whats the difference / Mr/ cream rinse, you just need a man,
a beefy leather fag, to take you out in drag, oh yeah!

I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual
I wanna be,

Call me a faggot, call me a butt loving, fudge packing queer.
But I don't care 'cause it's the straight in straight-edge,
that makes me wanan drink a beer and be a pansy, and be a homo.

Shock the middle class, take it up your punk rock ass.
You rub your puny thing, when you see studs with tight jeans pass you on the street.
Who wears short shorts? You wear short shorts.
You're so full of shit
Why don't you admit that you don't have the balls to be a queer.

I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual.
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual.
I wanna be, I wanna be a homosexual.
I wanna be a homosexual.

Not hatin on YOU bro I swear, I’m just sayin -

Screeching Weasel = pioneers of /What I’d consider tge 3rd wave of Punk (also - pound for pound - the best)

Ben Weasel = complete Tw*t

And I have several reasons for that being my non-malleable opinion. Not just the fact he punched a woman square in the face during a concert - I hate the BS he talked about The Max Levine Enzemble - however if your familiar enough to know how they responded to that - buh....rilliant!!!!
Naming arguably their best album “Ben Weasel Hates Us” as a retort to his giant, unprovoked tirade about how theyre “ruining the future of punk”

Right, cause when can you EVER turn on the radio without a “Max Levine Ensemble song playing!”

I'm not a homosexual but I love this song. Well done Screeching Weasel

I've been listening to punk since the mid-80's and have just changed with the times. The fast paced, poppy punk from Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords, etc etc was just a sign of the times. It was fun as hell. Is it "punk" enough? Probably not for the elitist "I'm more punk than you" crowd. It's just music; you decide if you want to be an asshole about it. Cheers.

I agree

@U R Phake And Gey i agree Ben was a real punk his voice was angry and cynical I love his songs like Nicaragua and love to hate

Ben Weasel has the attitude of a true punk and it's the perfect juxtaposition to his cheery pop punk tunes. Songs like "I wanna be a homo," "Follow Your Leaders," and "Tightrope" expose the cold brutal truths of this so called "anti-conformist" punk scene. This song for example was actually made because Ben Weasel admitted being gay was very punk since nobody liked gays back then. It's "offensive, yet sympathetic" and I think that's the TRUE spirit of punk. People will hate, but I think Ben Weasel truly gets it. Most "punks" are full of shit.

@TheBLGL Agreed. And I’m convinced ‘freeze up’ is a masterpiece just by itself alone.

@Quentin Plummer Op Ivy. That album is amazing. To this day. Jesse is a poet.

I love the line, "you don't have the balls to be a queer

@U R Phake And Gey He was making fun of fake gay people in the 90s punk scene who were just doing it just to be edgy. "Shock the middle-class take it up your punk rock ass."

U R Phake And Gey

@Damien Of the Damned No, he didn't mean the band. Weasel wrote this song as a jab at the punk scene. Someone convinced him that being gay was "ultimate punk rock," since nobody liked gays back then... and good on Weasel for seeing past the BS because even punks hated gays back then, hence "you don't have the balls to be a queer" cuz at least the gays aren't conformists.

It was also a response to Sloppy Seconds' song "I Don't Wanna Be A Homosexual."
