Mediterraneo
Serrat Joan Manuel Lyrics

Sigue jugando en tu playa
Y escondido tras las cañas
Duerme mi primer amor
Llevo tu luz y tu olor
Por dondequiera que vaya
Y amontonado en tu arena
Guardo amor, juegos y penas
A tus atardeceres rojos
Se acostumbraron mis ojos
Como el recodo al camino
Soy cantor, soy embustero
Me gusta el juego y el vino
Tengo alma de marinero
Qué le voy a hacer, si yo
Nací en el Mediterráneo
Nací en el Mediterráneo
Y te acercas, y te vas
Después de besar mi aldea
Jugando con la marea
Te vas, pensando en volver
Eres como una mujer
Perfumadita de brea
Que se añora y que se quiere
Que se conoce y se teme
Ay, si un día para mi mal
Viene a buscarme la parca
Empujad al mar mi barca
Con un levante otoñal
Y dejad que el temporal
Desguace sus alas blancas
Y a mí enterradme sin duelo
Entre la playa y el cielo
En la ladera de un monte
Más alto que el horizonte
Quiero tener buena vista
Mi cuerpo será camino
Le daré verde a los pinos
Y amarillo a la genista
Cerca del mar, porque yo
Nací en el Mediterráneo
Nací en el Mediterráneo
Nací en el Mediterráneo
The song "Mediterraneo" by Serrat Joan Manuel is a tribute to the Mediterranean Sea, the place where the singer was born and raised. The lyrics express a deep connection with the sea and the memories that it holds for the singer. He speaks of his childhood playing on the beach and the first love that he experienced while hiding behind the reeds. These memories are mixed with the sound of the sea and the smell of salt that he carries with him wherever he goes.
The song also speaks of the history of the Mediterranean, a region that has been the site of many wars and battles throughout its long history. Serrat talks of the tears that have been shed by countless peoples along the Mediterranean coast, from Algeciras to Istanbul. He describes the sea's dark and profound soul, which has seen so much suffering and pain over the centuries.
Despite the sadness of its history, the song celebrates the beauty and resilience of the sea. The singer speaks of the red sunsets that he has grown used to seeing on the coast, and of his love for wine and the game of life. He describes himself as a singer and a liar, with the soul of a sailor. In the end, he expresses his desire to be buried near the sea, where he feels a deep connection to his roots and to the natural world.
Overall, "Mediterraneo" is a powerful and moving tribute to the Mediterranean Sea, evoking the beauty, history, and mystery of this vast and complex region.

Quizás porque mi niñez
Maybe because my childhood
Sigue jugando en tu playa
Continues playing on your beach
Y escondido tras las cañas
And hidden behind the canes
Duerme mi primer amor
Sleeps my first love
Llevo tu luz y tu olor
I carry your light and your smell
Por dondequiera que vaya
Wherever I go
Y amontonado en tu arena
And piled up in your sand
Guardo amor, juegos y penas
I keep love, games, and sorrows
Yo, que en la piel tengo el sabor
I, who have the taste in my skin
Amargo del llanto eterno
Bitter of eternal weeping
Que han vertido en ti cien pueblos
That one hundred towns have poured into you
De Algeciras a Estambul
From Algeciras to Istanbul
Para que pintes de azul
So you can paint in blue
Sus largas noches de invierno
Their long winter nights
A fuerza de desventuras
Through adversity

Your soul is deep and dark
A tus atardeceres rojos
To your red sunsets

My eyes got used to them

I like the game and the wine
Tengo alma de marinero
I have the soul of a sailor
Qué le voy a hacer, si yo
What am I going to do if
Nací en el Mediterráneo
I was born in the Mediterranean
Nací en el Mediterráneo
I was born in the Mediterranean
Y te acercas, y te vas
And you come close, and you go
Después de besar mi aldea
After kissing my village
Jugando con la marea
Playing with the tide
Te vas, pensando en volver
You leave, thinking of returning
Eres como una mujer
You are like a woman
Perfumadita de brea
Fragrant with tar
Que se añora y que se quiere
Longed for and loved
Que se conoce y se teme
Known and feared
Ay, si un día para mi mal
Oh, if one day for my misfortune
Viene a buscarme la parca
Death comes to look for me
Empujad al mar mi barca
Push my boat into the sea
Con un levante otoñal
With an autumnal breeze
Y dejad que el temporal
And let the storm
Desguace sus alas blancas
Break its white wings
Y a mí enterradme sin duelo
And bury me without grief
Entre la playa y el cielo
Between the beach and the sky
En la ladera de un monte
On the side of a mountain
Más alto que el horizonte
Higher than the horizon
Quiero tener buena vista
I want to have a good view
Mi cuerpo será camino
My body will be a path
Le daré verde a los pinos
I will give green to the pine trees
Y amarillo a la genista
And yellow to the broom plant
Cerca del mar, porque yo
Near the sea, because I
Nací en el Mediterráneo
I was born in the Mediterranean
Nací en el Mediterráneo
I was born in the Mediterranean

Yo no entendía,porqué. Gracias maestro. Abrazo desde Uruguay.
