Bridge Over Troubled Waters
Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I'll dry them all
I'm on your side
Oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
Oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
Oh when times get rough
And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
Oh when darkness comes
And pain is all around

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on, silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind

Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

My wife died from cancer in 1972 at age 31. During her last hour on this earth I played the guitar and sang this song to her. It still has very deep and emotional meanings to me. I can not listen to it and not having tears come to my eyes. Thank you Paul and Art for this very special memory.

I read your post, and my heart swells with tears for your loss. I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like to endure what you and your wife have been through.

That is so sad for me to hear! I wish you only the best Damon! Truly just the best! That breaks my heart! Chuck

Your tears will keep her hydrated forever

And she nurtures this
Keep strong for both of you

They don’t write songs like this anymore...timelessly beautiful!

They did not write them like this before, either. There is an old Irish saying that some songs are written by angels in heaven. "Londonderry Air" is one such song. It tells in unmatched beauty the lament of a father and his undying love for his son who must go to war. Music can express in a way nothing else can the strength and pain of true love, and how it can lift us all up in a way only love - and music - can. It can be an ultimate expression of the selfless longing that is love. This is another such song. The awesome singing and composing talent aside, this song speaks from the heart of a willingness to be there in any and every way for another, and of how truly important that other is in every way. The contrast of, "When you're weary, feeling small" with, "Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way" says it all. This song is not about love. It IS love.

Not that they don't write songs like this anymore, it's probably just because you don't listen to songs like this anymore. Try listening to other artists, maybe you'd find another timeless song hanging around the internet.
I've certainly found a lot of songs that I like by pure random.
