Mechanical World
Spirit Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Death falls so heavy on my soul
Death falls so heavy, makes me moan
Somebody tell my father that I died
Somebody tell my mother that I cried

Death falls so heavy on my soul
Death falls so heavy, makes me moan
Somebody tell my father that I died
Somebody tell my mother that I cried

Once in my younger days
Once in my younger days I had a girl to love

Death falls so heavy on my soul
Death falls so heavy, makes me moan
Somebody tell my father that I died
Somebody tell my mother that I cried

Once in my younger days
Once in my younger days I had a girl to love

I met drummer Ed Cassidy after a Spirit concert, he told me that this song was the most difficult song to play drums to of all of the Spirit songs.
A super nice human being he was, he is solely missed, he had no rock star ego, so down to earth.

I saw Randy and Ed after a Spirit show in the 80s.
They were packing up there own equipment and talking to everbody.
Very nice folks...

It's been said before, but worth repeating: Spirit is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Phenomenal, creative music, definitely not formula!

wsugrad1977 No it wasn't. It's a relatively obscure track, and album for that matter. But who gives a fuck? The OP is spot on otherwise and that's all that matters. Another Jay Ferguson master joint yo

wsugrad1977
