Synestesia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Kuitenkin epäilen, mihin jalkani kantaa.
Ei vihaa! Hiljaisuus tunteeni kantava.
Ei raivoa!
Pelkäätkö kun verho kasvoiltas väistyy
Ja itketkö kun lasialttarisi nyt särkyy?
Ei vihaa! Ei tieni saa vihjeitä antaa.
Ei raivoa! Mikään ei mieltäni vainoa.
Ei pelkoa! En sillä työtänne helpota.
Ei armoa!
Pelkäätkö kun verho kasvoiltas väistyy
Ja itketkö kun lasialttarisi nyt särkyy?
Huudatko armoa kasvos kun terällä
Kiiltää vai oletko tyyni
Kun rikki ihos se viiltää?
Ei vihaa! Kukaan ei sattumaa tunne.
Ei raivoa! Sen hallinta vaatii taitoa.
Ei pelkoa! Ei kukaan uhria kaipaa.
Ei armoa!
The lyrics to Synestesia's song, Suvanto, speak of fear and doubt, though the singer acknowledges their own weaknesses. Despite this, they also express uncertainty about the future and where their actions will lead them. The singer refutes anger and rage and instead relies on silence to carry their emotions, allowing them greater control over their own reactions. The chorus poses several rhetorical questions that hint at personal crises or even traumas, asking if the listener is afraid when the veil is lifted from their face, if they cry when their figurative altar is shattered, and if they call out for mercy or remain calm in the face of cutting pain. The final verses once again reject the emotions of anger, rage, fear, and mercy, stating that none have a place in the listener's life.
Through the song's lyrics, the singer appears to be urging the listener to reject negative emotions and approach life with a measured, almost stoic outlook. They note that these emotions hurt others just as much as oneself and ultimately serve no purpose. By rejecting these negative emotions and taking control of one's own reactions, the singer hopes to create a better and more self-reliant person.
