Don't see any sadness here. Iihs provides room for improvement and you can see the cars really get there in some time, which makes driving much safer

Well the sad part is that the safety level seems to have been built to the test. Like when cars started failing the passenger overlap, when really both sides should be the same. @@pestsov

@@connorPiper0 well, you cannot improve all the things at once, there would be much price difference then at least (and we are speaking about invisible security features). there is the danger that car manufacturers would just ignore the tests claiming them for insane as well. So incremental steps are a good way to do it.

It's not sad because GM always does this. They get tested and fail always then try to fix it after. Rather than being prepared the first time around like some companies, they just wait until IIHS tests it for them and points out their flaws

Even though the XT6 has won Top Safety Pick+ for three years, it's impressive that the new test score is terrible. More manufacturers must strive to meet higher standards.

More manufacturers must strive to meet Tesla’s standards. Model Y has reached the highest score in euroncap. Tesla performs edge testing and constantly updates their airbag and crash algorithms through software updates. Only a small handful of companies perform edge testing.

@iihs, in the original side test, if the driver or rear passenger torso injury measures are rated poor, and everything else is fine, the vehicle would get a marginal overall rating. In the new test, why would this result in a poor? Is the new test more heavily weighted than the original?
