Although Taylor stated when the band formed in 1987, that the group would be a force to be reckoned with within six months, the group never took off in any market, except Germany, and broke up in 1993. With the conclusion of Queen's Magic Tour in 1986, Roger Taylor took the opportunity of a lack of activity on the Queen front to form his own band, which he named the Cross. Leaving his drum kit behind, Taylor assumed the duties of rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist for the group. Outside of recruiting Queen's tour keyboardist, Spike Edney, the rest of Taylor's new band were found through an ad placed in the music press. They were a group of unknowns, consisting of Clayton Moss (guitar), Peter Noone (bass guitar), and Josh Macrae (drums). With a group of songs already written, Taylor decided to record the first Cross album, Shove It, largely by himself and then tour with his new band. A hybrid of classic rock and dance influences, the album received some praise in the British music press but failed to get higher than the bottom of the album charts, as did it's three singles. In America, the album failed to chart and the group would not release another album there. The band resumed operations after the next Queen album with Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know, which was written by all the members in the band and embraced a classic rock sound. The lead single, "Power to Love," only dented the bottom of the British charts, while the album failed to chart at all. However, the band did continue to do well in Germany, and, with no record support in England, released their third album, Blue Rock, in that country only. After a final gig in 1993, the band called it a day. Taylor went on to record solo albums a
nd work with Queen, while Edney later helped found the S. A. S. Band, and Peter Noone joined Miss World.

I used to live in the suburbs of Chicago IL USA. Near the town that I lived in, was a Roman seminary, Techny. It still is there, although it's not a seminary any more. The church itself is a beautiful, breathtaking example of the art of Trompe l'oeil, all of the marble in the church is actually hand painted. The work took over twenty years to complete.

In the upper gallery is a small meditation chapel. On one of the walls, is a large collection of relics. By far the largest, and most decorated, is a First Class relic of the Cross, hardly more than a sliver. I of course have no idea if it is a true relic, or not. I'm a little skeptical about it though.

We have no real way of knowing exactly if the cross was a full cross as is traditionally depicted Jesus carrying. Or did he carry just the cross beam, while the uprights were a permanent installation. In either case, it really makes no sense to me that anyone would have actually saved it. I also have a little difficulty believing that the Romans would have let anyone just take it. It also doesn't make sense that the crosses were only used one time, and then disposed of.

Add to that the fact that the Apostles were so demoralized that they pretty much hid in a house of some sort. They were afraid that they also would be put to death. So it makes no sense that any of them would have risked taking it.

And finally, crucifixion was considered shameful to most people. Only the lowest criminals were put to death that way. So again, given that fact, I have a hard time believing that anyone would have kept it. One final thought. I don't know that any untreated wood could have survived several years intact, most likely just tossed away, or buried.

How fascinating . When I lived in Jerusalem in mid 70’s- 81. I saw the Holy Sepulchre and I was praying asking to be shown that despite all the Gold and silver ornaments , was this the correct Calvary as Protestants claim another one also in Jerusalem 🧐🙄🥱.
Anyway the young Greek Orthodox Priest came to me where I was praying and told me to come with him.
He took me where only the Elite Popes and hierarchy are permitted and there was a huge thick red velvet curtain, with a huge padlock that was verrrrry old.
Behind the bars of the gate was the rock jutting out of back of the wall of where the beautiful icon of Christ was..z
I drew a deep breath as I could see it was the actual rock the crucified Jesus and on it a huge split in the rock!!!
I was so taken back, my Lord my God showed me the truth and I believe it is the accurate place.
Blessed is the Lamb slaughtered so that I may live!!

@Andrew Patton I suppose it could've been possible. But personally, I think that Scripture sort of indicates that the Ark of the Covenant was beneath the cross and that Christ's blood dripped down onto it because of this verse:

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

"but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place" kind of seems like it's saying that his blood dripped onto the mercy seat of the Ark because the Ark was in the "holy place" and it would kind of make sense since in the O.T. priests would have to sprinkle the blood of certain animals in order to "cover" sin, also Christ is called th "high priest". Maybe the tomb of Adam was beneath the cross and it contained the Ark?

Not sure why my comment got deleted? I was asking if its true that Monastery Icons incorporates Hindu blessings in their iconography? I am sincere as I own two of them. I would love to buy more due to their rich color and use of the English language.

I struggle with Helena "finding" three intact wooden crosses that were 300 years old by the time she got to them. Imagine what anything wooden from 1720 would look like today and you get my point.
