The Pillows Lyrics

殻が破れる日をただ
静かに待っていたんだ
誰かのための 脇役のように
踏み潰されたってほら
ちゃんと光は見える
時を眺めてるのかな
僕はまだずっと 夢を
見てる フリを 続けてる
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
I singing when you sleep
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
I singing when you sleep
風はどこからか 吹いて
君の涙 乾かすだろう
雨は何気なく 降って
僕の名前削るだろう
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
You leaving when I sleep
You living in my dream
I singing when you sleep
You singing in my dream
明け方不意に 現れる月を
君だと信じてたのは
遠い昔のことさ
The lyrics to The Pillows' song "昇らない太陽" depict a sense of longing and introspection. The opening lines describe the anticipation of a breaking shell and waiting quietly in the egg. This can be interpreted as the feeling of being stuck or confined, waiting for something to change or for an opportunity to arise.
The following lines liken oneself to a supporting role, often being stepped on or overlooked. However, despite this, there is a recognition that light can still be seen, indicating that even in difficult situations, there is still hope and brightness to be found.
The lyrics then turn towards the subject of the listener, questioning how they are currently experiencing time and observing their face. The singer admits to still pretending to dream, suggesting that they are holding on to a fantasy or ideal rather than facing reality. This could imply a longing for a different life or wishing things were different.
The chorus repeats the lines "You leaving when I sleep, You living in my dream," suggesting that the person the singer is addressing has a significant impact on their thoughts and emotions. There is a sense of attachment and dependency on this person, as they are present even in the singer's dreams.
The lyrics continue with the imagery of an unsetting sun, burning quietly without illuminating anyone. This can represent a sense of stagnation or feeling purposeless. The mention of the moon unexpectedly appearing in the early morning and the past belief of it being the listener suggests that there was once a deep connection or trust that has now faded into distant memories.
The song concludes with the singer questioning what everyone else wants to do or experience, acknowledging their own lack of understanding. They wonder what the listener wants from them, questioning where to place their burnt dreams. The final lines suggest that the wind will dry the listener's tears and the rain will erode the singer's name, indicating a longing for release or liberation from their current circumstances.
Overall, the lyrics of "昇らない太陽" delve into themes of longing, introspection, and the intertwining of dreams and reality. It portrays a sense of yearning for change and finding meaning in relationships, while also acknowledging the struggles and uncertainties of life.
