Who?
The Sheepdogs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Who, who, who do you belong to?

Well they're talking, talking, talking but who of them know
How to keep on killing? Everybody's how it goes.
I try to understand it yeah I try not to lose
But can you really win when you must pick and choose?

I see those faces mock me, on top of my screen
Talking heads are spinning out yeah can you tell me what it means?

I try to understand it, yeah I try not to lose,
But can you really win when you must pick and choose?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Sheepdog's song Who? seem to be a commentary on the state of society and its power structures. The repeated question of "who do you belong to?" highlights this idea of ownership and control. The verses contrast this with the seemingly meaningless chatter of people in power who do not have the ability to make positive change. This is suggested in the line "How to keep on killing? Everybody's how it goes."

The verses also touch on the idea of trying to make sense of the world, but ultimately feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information and chaos. This is seen in phrases like "Talking heads are spinning out yeah can you tell me what it means?" and "can you really win when you must pick and choose?" These lines suggest a feeling of helplessness and being unable to find a clear path amidst the cacophony.

Overall, the song speaks to the frustrations of navigating a complex world, and the difficulty of reconciling the seemingly opposing forces of control and freedom.

Me and my buddy seen them play in Sackville, New Brunswick to about 10 people and we were looking at each other going "Why the F*** are these guys not playing in front of hundreds?" They blew us away.....and I am not surprised they made it....I was really happy for them when I saw them on MTV.

They just played Area 506 on August 4th. Outstanding set of tunes. These guys were great, back in 2015 when I saw them at Casino NB. They were even better this time around. Fantastic. High energy. Skilled artists. Crowd loved them. Pretty sure they were digging the crowd also.

These guys probably don't even know how famous they are about to become. Them and the Black Keys are, i hope, the resurrection of real music. These guys really got a good The Who sounds.

These guys are great!! They remind me of wearing Levis and baseball jersey tees, listening to mixed tapes, and passing around a doobie... but much fresher! Awesome groove, lots of soul, great harmonies. (Btw, is it just me or does the guitar riff at 3:23 sound like Bowie's Starman?)

gandalf gandson
