Bojna Čavoglave
Thompson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Za Dom Spremni!

U Zagori na izvoru rijeke Čikole
Stala braća da obrane naše domove

Stoji Hrvat do Hrvata, mi smo braća svi
Nećete u Čavoglave dok smo živi mi
Tuče thompson, kalašnjikov a i zbrojevka
Baci bombu, goni bandu preko izvora

Korak naprijed, puška gotovs i uz pjesmu svi
Za Dom braćo, za slobodu borimo se mi

Čujte srpski dobrovoljci, bando četnici
Stići ce vas naša ruka i u Srbiji

Stići ce vas Božja pravda, to već svatko zna
Sudit' će vam bojovnici iz Čavoglava

Slušajte sad poruku od Svetog Ilije
Nećete u Čavoglave, niste ni prije

Oj Hrvati, braćo mila iz Čavoglava
Hrvatska vam zaboravit neće nikada

Overall Meaning

The song Bojna Čavoglave by Thompson is a patriotic song that celebrates Croatian national identity, particularly the struggle for freedom and defense of the homeland. The lyrics describe a scene by the river Čikola in the Zagora region, where brothers stand together to defend their homes. The first line of the song, “Za Dom Spremni!,” is a phrase that was used as a Croatian nationalist slogan during World War II and has since become controversial due to its association with the fascist regime of the time.

The lyrics convey a message of unity and strength among the Croatian people, emphasizing the idea that they are all brothers fighting for a common cause. The use of weapons in the song represents the willingness to defend their homeland and the determination to fight against anyone who threatens it. The reference to Serbian volunteers and Chetniks, who were known for committing atrocities against the Croatian people during the war, further illustrates the sense of opposition and resistance.

Bojna Čavoglave is a popular song in Croatia and has been used in various contexts, including during sporting events, political rallies, and military ceremonies. While some see it as a celebration of national pride and patriotism, others have criticized it for promoting a nationalist ideology that excludes and demonizes minorities. Overall, the song reflects the complex history and political landscape of Croatia and the ongoing debates about national identity and memory.
