Moj dida i ja
Thompson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
kršan čovik, tvrde brade side.
Pamtim pogled, tu toplinu oka
i svaka riječ je bila mu duboka.
Čvrst je dida bio kao stijena,
hrabra srca i kamenih gena.
Sva je mudrost utkana u njemu,
"Poštenim putem ići,
bit će teško znaj,
al' samo ćeš tako stići
gdje je vječni sjaj."
Ej, da mi je s tobom,
kao prije dočekati zore,
pogledati dolje,
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje.
Moj dida i ja, prijatelja dva,
drugo vrijeme - ista sudbina.
Gleda na me planina Svilaja
sa očima njegovoga sjaja.
Crpio je snagu tamo gore,
planina mu iscrtala bore.
Njegove su ispucale ruke,
meni bile kao mirne luke.
Kako da mu zahvalim na svemu,
sinu ime dao sam po njemu.
"Poštenim putem ići,
bit će teško znaj,
al' samo ćeš tako stići,
gdje je vječni sjaj."
Ej, da mi je s tobom,
kao prije dočekati zore,
pogledati dolje,
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje.
Moj dida i ja, prijatelja dva,
drugo vrijeme - ista sudbina.
Ej, da mi je pogledati dolje,
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje,
pa da viknem jače od oluje,
da me dida još jedan put čuje.
Ej, da mi je s tobom,
kao prije dočekati zore,
pogledati dolje,
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje.
Moj dida i ja, prijatelja dva,
drugo vrijeme - ista sudbina.
The song "Moj dida i ja" by Thompson is a touching tribute to the singer's grandfather. The lyrics describe a journey through memory, as the singer recalls his grandfather's strong, stoic presence and wise words. The grandfather is described as a solid rock, with a brave heart and deep wisdom. He taught the singer about the importance of honesty and perseverance, but also about the beauty and power of nature, particularly the mountain of Svilaja, which overlooks the fields where they both grew up.
The chorus expresses the singer's longing to be with his grandfather again, to watch the sunrise together and gaze out on the fields from the top of Svilaja. The song is full of nostalgia and gratitude for the lessons and love imparted by the grandfather, and there is a sense of deep connection and understanding between the two of them.
Line by Line Meaning
Preko polja kroz sjećanje ide,
The memories take me across the fields,
kršan čovik, tvrde brade side.
A handsome man with a rugged beard by my side.
Pamtim pogled, tu toplinu oka
I remember his gaze, the warmth of his eyes,
i svaka riječ je bila mu duboka.
And every word he spoke was deep and meaningful.
Čvrst je dida bio kao stijena,
My grandpa was as strong as a rock,
hrabra srca i kamenih gena.
Brave at heart, with the genes of a stone.
Sva je mudrost utkana u njemu,
All wisdom was woven in him,
njegove su priče učile me svemu:
His stories taught me everything:
"Poštenim putem ići,
"To go by an honest path,
bit će teško znaj,
It will be tough, but know that
al' samo ćeš tako stići
Only by doing so you'll reach
gdje je vječni sjaj."
Where the eternal shine is."
Ej, da mi je s tobom,
Oh, if only I could be with you
kao prije dočekati zore,
To greet the dawn as we used to do,
pogledati dolje,
To look down
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje.
From Svilaja to Petrovo polje.
Moj dida i ja, prijatelja dva,
My grandpa and I, two friends,
drugo vrijeme - ista sudbina.
Different times - same fate.
Gleda na me planina Svilaja
The mountain Svilaja looks down on me
sa očima njegovoga sjaja.
With the sparkle in his eyes.
Crpio je snagu tamo gore,
He drew strength from up there,
planina mu iscrtala bore.
The mountain engraved wrinkles on him.
Njegove su ispucale ruke,
His hands were cracked,
meni bile kao mirne luke.
To me they were like calm harbors.
Kako da mu zahvalim na svemu,
How can I thank him for everything,
sinu ime dao sam po njemu.
I named my son after him.
"Poštenim putem ići,
"To go by an honest path,

Ej, da mi je pogledati dolje,
Oh, if only I could look down
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje,
From Svilaja to Petrovo polje,
pa da viknem jače od oluje,
To yell louder than a storm,
da me dida još jedan put čuje.
So that grandpa can hear me one more time.
Ej, da mi je s tobom,
Oh, if only I could be with you
kao prije dočekati zore,
To greet the dawn as we used to do,
pogledati dolje,
To look down
sa Svilaje na Petrovo polje.
