domovina koju smo svi snili
za njenu slobodu krv si svoju dao
i tisućljetni san je stvarnost postao
Ne poznajem takvu i tužna mi se čini
u snovima je mojim ponosna i lijepa
a gdje su joj junaci i sinovi vrli
a gdje vrednote za koje smo mrili
Hej, ratniče, te Hrvatske nema
čim propupa snašle je nevolje
podigle se na nju sile tame
udarile na krunu i prijestolje
Uvijek je bilo i uvijek ce biti
onih sto će dušu Vragu prodati
a vi zajto bdijte, jer morate bditi
domovini ponos vratiti
Ref. 2x
Sve bih dao da je vidim
ponosnu i lijepu k'o u snovima
sve bih dao da je vidim
i opet bih spreman stao, svoj bih život dao
Ref. 2x
Ja sam duša hrvatskih ratnika
domovinu tražim i stijeg sto se vije
i mojom je krvlju ona natopljena
a duša nema mira, traži je
The lyrics of Thompson's song "Duh Ratnika" is a tribute to the Croatian soldiers who fought for the country's independence. The song speaks about the journey of a soldier's spirit who is wandering around. The first verse speaks of a soldier's identity, where he comes from, and his fatigue from the constant walk. He questions why he's wandering like a ghost on this land where no battle is being fought anymore.
The chorus of the song speaks about the soldier's love for the homeland and the flag under which he fought. The soldier's soul is restless as he is still looking for his country. In the second verse, the song describes the soldier's disappointment in the current state of his homeland, where the heroes who fought alongside him are no longer present. He also mentions that the country is facing dark forces that threaten its crown and throne.
The final verse is a call to all active soldiers and citizens to defend their country valiantly. The last two repetitions of the chorus express the soldier's desire to see his country proud and beautiful as it once was. The lyrics of the song carry an emotional depth, conveying the sense of nostalgia, patriotism, and sacrifice of those who fought for the independence of Croatia.
