Tom is an artistic genius and shamefully not known by so many,

The lyrical prowess of Tom Russell is so painfully under-appreciated in the world of American music and the American Songbook, that it is at times painful to listen to such a brilliant man. A man who, with an old guitar can transport you, he can dissect you,r very being, and speak volumes to your soul, turning into sunshine but also into rain. All his pain, suffering, loss, love, wonder and magic. A life beholden solely to Tom Russell, an American original in the truest sense of the word. Guys like Johnny Cash are geniuses as well, but they get their fair share. However for whatever reason the world doesn’t seem to know or appreciate Tom Russell. I don’t let that take away the beauty and his pros. He wraps a tapestry of lyrical magic around you like a warm blanket, And he doesn’t let you go until you’re ready to fly The lyrical prowess of Tom Russell is so painfully under-appreciated in the world of American music and the American Songbook, that it is at times painful to listen to such a brilliant man. There are only so many of those true talents out there in the world. The world word talent is thrown around a lot in the industry, but when you can transcend time and space with the three chords song you’ve got talent. Tom Russell is the a pitta me of everything the combination of decades of americana of all genres from all walks of life, most importantly the American Indian, most poorly treated souls as Americans have ever ever taken for granted. Tom Russell is the culmination of decades of American originals: cowboy ballads, Western swing, Bakersfield sound, Nashville picking, and west coast revival. Tom lives within all genres and all walks of life, most importantly, his featuring prominently the American Indian, the single most poorly treated souls Americans have ever ever raped and pillaged. He tells you their stories, but he never lectures. It’s always the lines in between the lines matter.Thank you Tom, and keep on hustlin’.

Thanks Tom, that was magical. All your songs give me chills. Now give Ian back his hat. - Nah, come to think about it - why don't you just keep it.

I gave myself a 70th birthday present six years ago and hired Tom to play in my backyard in Amador City, Ca. for my wife and I and about 100 of our best friends. I was able to get him on an evening following a night he had done a gig in Ferndale Ca. and was going to play the Genoa Nevada Cowboy Poetry Festival the next evening. I’ve seen him many times, but that night in the yard was unforgettable. Oh, and we went to Genoa the next day to see him again.

Neil Coupland

Excellent news, looking forward to seeing this!
