Trust Lyrics

Honestly, I can't take tonight
Here's living proof on my fingertips
When you melt beside I know you're it
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted scenes
I pray to my sulk
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted means
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted me
I'm safe with my sulk
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted means
Now I fill up without weight of warmth
Moving your hips too literal
Deem him high, he's bound to fall
Heart and soul like I knew you would
When you say "love" it sounds so good
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted scenes
I pray to my sulk
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted means
With fists to the ground
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted me
I'm safe with my sulk
Everybody wanted calm, everybody wanted means
Now I fill up without weight of warmth
It's not too wrong to let it blow
(ride the radio and dance to fall)
The lyrics to Trust's song, "Sulk," convey a sense of isolation and a desire to escape the expectations of others. The first verse implies that the singer is exhausted and cannot handle the pressure of the night. They find solace in being close to someone they care for, but they also recognize that this person represents the only proof of life they have at the moment. The chorus is a repetition of three phrases that reflect the disillusionment of the singer with the idea of calmness and means that others strive for. They prefer to hide in their sulk as it offers them a sense of safety. The second verse speaks to a broken romantic relationship, with the inability to express oneself openly and the fear of falling in love again. Despite being aware of the problematic nature of their past relationship, the singer still finds comfort in the memories of the person they used to love. The final lines of the song suggest that sometimes it is necessary to let go and surrender oneself to the moment.
The themes presented in "Sulk" are deeply personal and relatable to anyone who has struggled with anxiety or heartbreak. Trust's choice of words is haunting and evocative, with phrases such as "fold your heels" and "fists to the ground" conveying a sense of physical discomfort and tension. The repeated use of the word "calm" emphasizes the singer's exhaustion with the societal and personal expectations of being composed and in control. The chorus serves as a mantra, a declaration of rejecting those expectations and embracing a state of sulking, which represents a personal retreat from the outside world.
