I see your face downtown, downtown, downtown
One minute girl, what you're gonna do
When we come for you in downtown?
I see your face, it washes me
I know a place I ought to be downtown, downtown
One minute girl, what you're gonna do
When we come for you in downtown?
In Ty Segall's song "6th Street", the lyrics seem to speak to a sense of attraction and desire towards someone who is being sought after. The opening line "I know you're mine, my little one" suggests a possessive nature, but also the comfort and security that comes with a strong connection between two people. The repeated use of the word "downtown" throughout the song hints at a sense of urgency or danger, as if the couple is sneaking around or trying to avoid being caught by someone or something.
The next verse "One minute girl, what you're gonna do / When we come for you in downtown?" adds to this sense of danger and risk-taking, as if the couple knows they are doing something wrong but cannot resist their attraction to one another. The line "I see your face, it washes me" suggests that the person's presence alone is enough to overwhelm and consume the singer's thoughts and emotions. "I know a place I ought to be downtown, downtown" further emphasizes the pull towards a specific location, perhaps where the couple meets or spends time together, despite the potential risks involved.
Overall, the lyrics of "6th Street" convey a deep sense of desire and longing between two people, set against a backdrop of potential danger and caution. The repetition of the word "downtown" adds to the sense of urgency and the idea that the couple is engaged in something illicit or secretive.
