All the latest news
Sitting on the screen
She wants to be free
Maybe I can get to my phone
Maybe I can see what’s done
Maybe I’ll get onto TV
Susie wants to be
On all the TVs
Sitting in the screen
She waits for you and me
Maybe she can last a while
Maybe she will show a smile
Maybe she’ll get onto TV
Oh, maybe, we’ll see
Maybe I can get to my phone
Maybe I can see what’s done
Maybe she’ll get onto TV
Oh, maybe, we’ll see
The lyrics of Ty Segall's song Susie Thumb touch upon the modern obsession with technology and fame. Susie wants to be constantly updated with the latest news and entertainment, and she wants to be seen on all the TVs. Ty Segall may be making a commentary on the way our culture is becoming more and more reliant on screens and social media. He may also be suggesting that many people have lost sight of what is truly important in life, and are more focused on their personal brands and image.
The repetition of the line "Maybe, we'll see" in the chorus suggests a sense of uncertainty and anticipation, as if everyone is hoping for their moment in the spotlight. However, it also implies that not everyone will make it onto TV, and that the pursuit of fame can be a fickle game. Susie may be a symbol for all those who are chasing after something that may not bring them lasting happiness or fulfillment.
Overall, Ty Segall's Susie Thumb is a catchy and thought-provoking song that encourages listeners to reflect on their relationship with technology and fame. It may serve as a reminder that there is more to life than just being seen on a screen.
