Take Care

When you can't brush it any longer
It might just disappear
Sink, swim, breathe in the air
When you can't breathe it any longer
It might just disappear
Disappear, oh, oh, oh
Disappear
Disappear
Take care about your short hair
It's not growing any longer
I guess it disappeared
It disappeared
It disappeared, yeah
Disappeared
It disappeared
Come on
Take care about your long hair
It's not growing any longer
I guess it disappeared
The lyrics of Ty Segall's "Take Care" seem to touch on themes of impermanence and the fleeting nature of certain aspects of our lives. The repetition of the phrase "Take care" acts as a reminder to be mindful and attentive to the things that may disappear or change.
The first verse suggests that we should take care of our long hair, but when we can no longer brush it, it might just disappear. Here, the long hair could represent something cherished or desired, and the act of brushing it could symbolize the effort we put into maintaining and preserving it. However, as time passes and circumstances change, what we once held onto so tightly may slip away.
In the second verse, the same idea is echoed, but this time with the focus on breathing instead of hair. We are advised to take care to breathe in the air, but when we can no longer do so, it might also disappear. This could be interpreted as a reminder to appreciate the life-giving force of breath, and the fleeting nature of our existence.
The final verse adds a twist to the narrative. Instead of focusing on long hair, the lyrics shift to short hair. We are urged to take care of our short hair, but it's not growing any longer, implying that it has already disappeared. This could suggest that even when we take care of something and act diligently, it may still fade away or change beyond our control.
Overall, "Take Care" seems to convey a message about accepting the transient nature of certain aspects of our lives and reminding us to appreciate them while they last. It encourages mindfulness and the understanding that some things are destined to disappear.
