The Italian song "Apologia di Renato" by Vallanzaska tells the story of Renato, a young bandit on the run from the police. The first stanza describes a caravan of people traveling down a dusty road, but they are interrupted by the sound of gendarmes chasing after Renato. They want to catch him and put him in jail, but he manages to escape. The second stanza introduces the inspector, who is determined to catch Renato and has a malicious grin on his face. Renato is always on the move, and even when he sleeps, he dreams of the inspector catching him with a noose around his neck.
