If I take one more I'm afraid that were going to slip
There's a chance that I'll go back to where I were before
I'm afraid that if I stay im going to pull you to the floor
And if you scratch your back
Then I'll scratch mine
And if you mind your thought
And if you keep your fingers crossed
I'll keep trying
You cant find a place on this earth where I will not follow you
But there are countries in your head that I can not travel to
But if you scratch your back
Then I'll scratch mine
And if you mind your thought
Then I'll keep mine
And if you keep your fingers crossed
I'll keep trying
Theres a chance that I'll go back to where i were before
I'm afraid that if I stay I'm going to pull you to the floor
I might not always be just the saintly as I would like to be
But I am trying to bring out the best that I have in me
And if you scratch your back
Then I'll scratch mine
And if you mind your thought
Then I'll keep mine
And if you keep your fingers crossed
I'll keep trying
I said if you scratch your back
Then I'll scratch mine
And if you mind your thought
Then I'll keep mine
And if you keep your fingers crossed
I'll keep trying
In Veto's song "Spit It Out", the lyrics depict a desire to maintain a connection with someone despite the fear of slipping or failing. The first verse expresses the fear of taking the next step and potentially leading to a downfall. The second verse recognizes that there may be mental and emotional barriers that cannot be overcome, leading to a feeling of being stuck or unable to travel together in those "countries in your head".
However, the chorus offers a solution through a reciprocal partnership, asking for a fair exchange of effort to maintain the connection. "If you scratch your back, then I'll scratch mine" reveals a willingness to help each other, while "if you keep your fingers crossed, I'll keep trying" shows a determination to keep moving forward. The lyrics acknowledge that maintaining a relationship takes effort and compromise, but ultimately convey a desire to do so despite the challenges.
Overall, "Spit It Out" speaks to the complexities of human relationships and the hard work required to maintain them.
