You Say Yes I Say Yes
Veto Lyrics

Is the easiest part
Just keep your head down
It's finding meaning
Once you're in there
That's hard
What's the point of speech
When all I do with it
Is just repeating myself
refrain2:
What's the point of a soul
When all I'm being is
A faulty copy of myself
But if you get off
Then I get off
What's the meaning of
Covering up yourself when
You are who you were born
What's the meaning of
Doing things that you
Obviously think are wrong
If you take one more step
I'll be behind you
To put my foot
Where yours were first
If you say one more clever thing
I'll just repeat it
And act like I said it first
The lyrics of the song "You Say Yes I Say Yes" by Veto express the difficulty in finding meaning and purpose once you have achieved a certain level of success or have reached a particular goal. The first verse describes the ease of getting to a certain point, but the real challenge lies in finding significance and fulfillment once you've reached that destination. The refrain questions the point of communication and having a soul when it feels like there's no progress being made or no originality in one's words or behavior. The second verse raises questions about authenticity and whether it's necessary to cover oneself up or do things that go against one's own beliefs and values just to fit in or please others.
The chorus brings the focus back to the beginning of the song, where it hints at the idea that if someone else is able to find meaning or purpose in a situation or circumstance, then the singer can as well. The idea of solidarity is present, and perhaps the singer finds comfort in knowing they're not alone in their struggles.
Overall, the lyrics of "You Say Yes I Say Yes" challenge the listener to think critically about their own lives and the meaning behind their thoughts and actions. It encourages them to question the importance of societal norms and to seek authenticity and fulfillment in their lives.

This is one of the few if not the only music video I come back to watch over and over again whenever I'm in that certain mood. I like the video and the song but I love what they are making together.

Catchy tune - the last Danish band to have any level of popularity here in Australia were rockers D.A.D back in the late 1980s!
