Despite everything, the singer is asking for the memories to leave, to slide away, but not to completely disappear. The memories are old, the dreams of love that once requested attention now fall at dawn with the absence of the loved one.
In the second verse, the singer mentions songs, poems, daggers, and words, signifying that emotions can wreak havoc and cause pain. Memories of the past can be torturous, but they still hold significance. The night dreams, once full of love, have lost their intensity, and the singer walks alone, shouting at streetlights. But through it all, there is still the desire to keep singing and clinging to the memories. The refrain repeats the phrase scivola, scivola vai via (slide away, slide away, go away from me) over and over, imploring the memories to let go while still acknowledging that they will always be a part of the singer’s life.
