Hitch-Hike-Baby
Volker Lechtenbrink Lyrics

Gleich bin ich dort
Wo wir uns sahn.
Ich steige aus
Geh rein und frag nach dir
Sie sagen
Oh
Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady
Ja
Gab's dich wirklich?
Manchmal glaube ich es kaum.
(Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-bady)
Oh
Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady
Ja
Gab's dich \\Wirklich?
Vielleicht \\war es doch nur ein Traum.
(Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady)
Oh
Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady
Ja
Gab's das wirklich?
Das
Was du in mir entfachst
(Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady)
Oh
Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady
Ja
Gab's das wirklich?
Deine Küsse
Die schöne Nacht?
Stunde um Stunde fahr ich noch geradeaus
Hier bei dem Rasthaus stiegst du aus
Traurig und leer fahr' ich dann zurück.
Der Mann im Radio singt vom Glück.
Oh
Hitch-Hike-Baby
Kleine Rasthaus-Lady
...
The lyrics to Volker Lechtenbrink's song Hitch-Hike-Baby tell the story of a man who is driving for hours to go to a rest stop where he and a woman had previously met. The man hopes to find the woman there again, but when he arrives and asks about her, he is told that she hasn't been seen since their initial meeting. The man is left wondering if the woman he remembers so vividly was real or if she was just a figment of his imagination.
The song is a bittersweet lament about lost love and the fleeting nature of human connections. The man's memories of the woman he met at the rest stop linger on, haunting him long after she has disappeared from his life. The repetition of the phrase "Hitch-Hike-Baby, Kleine Rasthaus-Lady" adds to the dream-like quality of the song, as if the man is trying to hold onto a memory that is slipping away from him.
Overall, the lyrics to Hitch-Hike-Baby are a poignant reminder of the transience of human relationships and the power of memory to shape our lives and experiences.

Ruhe in Frieden, Volker !
