I found about Mertens music some twenty years ago, I was a late teenager and heavy metal was my kind of music at that time, I remenber to have thought, woah this is something very peculiar and distinctive, and hell I really like it!! To this day I have been listening to Mertens music with awe, pride and feeling a very intimal feeling of discovery on every piece. On every ocasion I have met or recognied another private Mertens listener, we out of words felt we were proud of being so.

yes, there is this some special connection, an understanding without using any words, that is shared between Wim Mertens appreciators.

PROUD THIS IS A BELGIAN MUSICIAN, A BELGIAN TREASURE…But still too much unknown for the wider world… Great music Wim…as always. Wish I had been there in Tenerife…what a sound the orchestra creates with your compositions.

I first heard , Sometimes a bird " and I started listening to Wims work . I think he is still mostly undiscovered by music broadcasting radio stations , particularly the symphonic or classical music stations . Really very inspiring .. and motivating .

Wow this is beautiful. I don't think I can go back listening to the album version after this!

Impossible not to associate this very piece to "The belly of an architect" a film by Peter Greenaway of the 90s ; P Greenaway quite always asked his music scores to Mickael Nyman (beginning with "Meurtres dans un jardin anglais" / "The draughtsman contract"), but that time, he asked Wim, and this was a successful choice as well as a perfect match…
Un gran y merecido exito fue esta noche en Tenerife, bravo !
