Zager & Evans are only known for their immensely popular song In the Year 2525 (Exordium And Terminus), written by Rick Evans. It hit number one on the UK chart in 1969. Coincidentally, it was number one on 20 July 1969 in USA, the date of the first manned moon landing by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, and spent six weeks on the Billboard Top 40. It was nominated for a special Hugo Award that same year.
The band signed with RCA records, who claimed they were "The Next Big Thing", but follow-up singles, such as "Mr. Turnkey", went unnoticed by the public.

If you ever walked away.
Use to think I needed you so bad.
Did I say that I'd never leave you behind?
Well, just keep treating me unkind 'cause fool I'm a woman and I'm bound to change my mind.
With a woman it's imperative you show her that you love her.
If you don't it's her prerogative to change like the weather.
You know I use to think love was blind.
Well, fool I'm a woman and I'm bound to change my mind.
You use to tell me so many nights.
You don't deserve me.
Well, maybe you were right.
Yesterday you offered me the world.
Did you think I'd take it?
Now you treat me like some silly girl.
Yeah, and that's where I'm drawing the line.
You know I use to think you were so fine.
Well, fool I'm a woman and bound to change my...

Well, fool I'm a woman and I just changed my mind.
And I'm about to change my mind.
The lyrics of Zager & Evans's song 'Woman' revolve around the idea of change in a relationship, particularly when it comes to a woman's emotions and decisions. The opening lines talk about how the singer once believed that the idea of being away from her lover would leave her devastated, but now she believes that she is capable of changing her mind. The repetition of the line, "fool I'm a woman and I'm bound to change my mind" reinforces the idea that women can be fickle in their emotions, which is something that is often stereotyped in society.
The second verse of the song adds to the idea of a woman's unpredictability, suggesting that if she is not shown love, it is her prerogative to change. The chorus also goes on to reiterate the idea of a woman changing her mind, and the final lines of the song emphasize her ability to do so. The lyrics point towards the idea of a woman being independent and not relying on a man to define her worth.
Altogether, the song is a reflection of the changing times of the late 60s and early 70s, where gender norms and societal expectations were being challenged. It acts as an anthem for women who were seeking to redefine themselves and their roles in society.
