Ar u namus şişesini taşa çaldım kime ne
Haydar Haydar taşa çaldım kime ne
Sofular haram demişler aşkımın şarabına
Ben doldurur ben içerim günah benim kime ne
Haydar Haydar günah benim kime ne
Gah inerim yeryüzüne seyreder alem beni
Haydar Haydar seyreder alem beni
Nesimi'ye sorsalar ki yarin ilen hoş musun?
Hoş oluyum olmayayım o yar benim kime ne?
Haydar Haydar o yar benim kime ne?
In Zerrin Özer's song "Ben Melanet Hırkasını," the lyrics depict a sense of rebellion and independence. The singer proudly declares that they have put on their crooked coat (symbolizing uniqueness and non-conformity) and shattered the bottle of honor and reputation on a stone (to emphasize their disregard for societal norms and expectations). The repeated line "kime ne" (who cares) reflects the singer's defiance against judgment or criticism from others.
The second stanza confronts the disapproval of those who consider the singer's love and passion as sinful or forbidden. They boldly state that they can fill and drink from the wine of their love without caring about the consequences or implications of their actions. The line "günah benim kime ne" (the sin is mine, who cares) exemplifies their autonomy and disregard for moral judgments.
The third stanza showcases the duality of the singer's character. They sometimes ascend to the sky and observe the world from above, while other times, they descend to the earthly realm and are observed by the world. This demonstrates their complexity and ability to transcend boundaries or limitations, ultimately leaving others to watch and wonder about their actions and existence.
In the final stanza, the lyrics make a reference to Nesimi, an influential Azerbaijani poet and mystic from the 14th century. The singer imagines being asked whether they are content with being in love with their beloved, and boldly responds that they will remain content whether they are accepted or rejected by their beloved. The line "o yar benim kime ne" (that beloved is mine, who cares) highlights their unwavering devotion and indifference to others' opinions.
Overall, "Ben Melanet Hırkasını" is a song that celebrates individuality, rebellion against societal norms, and the freedom to love and express oneself without concern for external judgments.
