From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.

Never tell the truth to us
Since we're born to love
Born to live
And born to wonder
Take these chains
And turn it into thunder
With tears and laughter
What you feel
Will come to you after
He was born to love
No one to love him
He was born to love
No one to love
What you give
Is what you get babe
What you give
He was born to love
No one to love him
He was born to love
No one to love
He was born to love
Love will never be fair to us
Never tell he truth to us
Since we're born to love (no one)
No one to love him
No one to love him
He was born to love
No one to love
GOSTO's "Born To Love No One" is a captivating song that explores the nature of love and how it affects us. The lyrics highlight that love is never fair and rarely tells the truth, yet we are born to love. The song emphasizes that life is full of wonder and we are meant to experience it, chains cannot bind us, so we should take them and turn them into thunder- a symbol of strength.
The second stanza explains that our lives are filled with emotions, and laughter and tears are part of those experiences. Whatever we feel, will ultimately come back to us, so we should always give our best. The following lines describe a person who was born to love but is unfortunate to have no one to love them back. The lyrics evoke sadness and loneliness, and it is the antithesis of love, and it is relatable to many people who have gone through heartbreak or unrequited love.
The chorus, "He was born to love, no one to love him," is repeated several times, emphasizing the loneliness and the pain of not having someone to share and reciprocate that love. The message of the song is poignant as it touches on the fragility of love and the fact that life is full of uncertainties, including unrequited love. The song is a bittersweet reminder that love is never easy, but even so, it is a fundamental human desire that brings comfort and joy to our lives.

Vanavond Gosto meegemaakt in Asteriks Leeuwarden. Lullig klein zaaltje, dito publiek. Maakt echt niet uit: ontzettend goede set neergezet, en wát een meesterlijk goede drummer! Volgende keer ben ik er weer bij hoor.
