From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.
GOSTO band:
Roel Vermeer: Vocals, synths & samples
Mats Voshol: Drums
Reindert Kragt: Bass & synthbass
Luc Schouten: Guitar

Tell Me What You're Made Of
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You find yourself in a shield of iron
Whatever you do keeps me waiting
Whatever you do keeps me awake
So tell me what you're made of
'Cause that's what I'm afraid of
That's what I'm afraid of
is what I'm afraid of.
The lyrics of GOSTO's song "Tell Me What You're Made Of" appear to be addressing someone who is a bit enigmatic and mysterious. The first two lines suggest that this person has a tendency to rely on others to save them, yet also possesses a kind of emotional armor that protects them. The next two lines express the singer's sense of being captivated by this person's actions - everything they do creates anticipation, and keeps the singer from sleeping.
This builds up to the central question of the song: "Tell me what you're made of." The singer seems to be expressing fear or trepidation around this person; it's as if they suspect that this enigmatic figure might be hiding something dark or dangerous. By asking them to reveal the truth about themselves, the singer is attempting to confront their fear and see past the façade the other person has erected.
Overall, the song seems to be about the struggle to understand someone who is complex and difficult to read. The lyrics evoke a sense of tension, uncertainty, and even fear, suggesting that the singer is grappling with deep emotions and trying to navigate a complex relationship.
