The lyrics of sukekiyo's song "Scars like Velvet" convey a sense of loneliness and disconnection from the world, as well as a struggle to find one's place in it. The opening lines "Modae minu furi wo shite wa / toozakaru kage mo, dare ni okikaeru?" can be translated to mean "I pretend not to care, but who will notice the receding shadows?" This suggests a feeling of being overlooked or ignored, despite trying to put on a brave face.
The following lines continue this theme of questioning one's identity and purpose in life. "Velvet / jissai wa dare? / jijitsu mukon to kubitsuri / ittai dare no tame no kami no ko" can be translated to mean "Velvet / who am I really? / Hanging by a thread without any truth / For whose sake am I a divine child?" This suggests a deeper existential crisis, as the singer grapples with questions of their own worth and meaning.
The final lines of the song bring in a note of gratitude, perhaps suggesting that even in the midst of this struggle, there are still things to be thankful for. "Kimi wa, jiyuu, kirai ni naritai / mama, papa, arigatou" can be translated to mean "You, freedom, wanting to hate / Mama, papa, thank you." This could be interpreted as a recognition of the people who have helped the singer through difficult times, or as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is still hope.

Wow the lyrics are completely different from what I imagined. I get this song stuck in my head all the time too. Thank you for subbing this I'm pretty sure this is the only sub of this song on YouTube rn. I hope you sub In All Weathers from this concert in the future.
@kayachanneru
That one has actually been on my list forever, I'm sure I'm gonna get to it very soon :)

Great job as always! It's relevant as well that hydrangeas will change their color depending on the pH of the soil they're in. I imagine there's meant to be both the literal image of a hydrangea being soaked and the person he considers like a hydrangea "getting wet" over someone.

Thank you and great point!
