Guren
the GazettE Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The GazettE's Guren is a song about heartbreak and longing, and the pain that comes with not being able to let go of someone you once loved. The lyrics speak of memories of past happiness, and the constant reminder of the person they have lost. The first verse "Gomena ato sukoshi, Anata no namae to nemurasete" translates to "Sorry, just let me sleep, with your name on my lips." This indicates that the singer is having trouble moving on from their previous relationship, and the other person's name is stuck in their mind, preventing them from being able to rest.

The chorus, "Usure naide anata yo, Wazukara toiki wo kikasete hoshii," can be translated as "Don't fade away, I want to hear your breath next to me." The singer is asking their past lover not to fade away, but to stay with them, even if it is just in memory. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the line "Tori mono saru haru ni, Fureru no hana ga seku," which translates to "The spring flowers bloom as the birds gather and play." This image of renewal and new beginnings suggests that the singer is finally ready to let go, and move forward with hope.
