Maybellene
Chuck Berry Lyrics

Maybellene, why can't you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can't you be true
You've started back doin' the things you used to do

As I was motivatin' over the hill
I saw Mabellene in a Coup de Ville
A Cadillac arollin' on the open road
Nothin' will outrun my V8 Ford
The Cadillac doin' about ninety-five
She's bumper to bumper, rollin' side by side
Maybellene
Why can't you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can't you be true
You've started back doin' the things you used to do

The Cadillac pulled up ahead of the Ford
The Ford got hot and wouldn't do no more
It then got cloudy and started to rain
I tooted my horn for a passin' lane
The rainwater blowin' all under my hood
I know that I was doin' my motor good
Maybellene
Why can't you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can't you be true
You've started back doin' the things you used to do

Oh, Maybellene
Why can't you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can't you be true
You've started back doin' the things you used to do

The motor cooled down the heat went down
And that's when I heard that highway sound
The Cadillac asittin' like a ton of lead
A hundred and ten half a mile aheadv The Cadillac lookin' like it's sittin' still
And I caught Mabellene at the top of the hill
Maybellene
Why can't you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can't you be true
You've started back doin' the things you used to do

Elvis was creating and inventing rockabilly in July 1954 had Rock songs that rocked more harder than the originals ever did,

Elvis Presley was recording his sun classics well before Chuck Berry and Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jackie Wilson, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent , Everly bros, had ever made their first record

Thats All Right (Elvis, 1954) Good Rockin tonight (Elvis, 1954) Milkcow Blues Boogie (Elvis, 1954) Fool Fool Fool (Elvis, Jan 1955) Shake, Rattle and Roll,(Elvis Jan 1955) Baby Let’s Play House (Elvis, Feb 1955)

I know you rock and roll history revisionists want to change history with your black artists bias but the truth will always come forth most of the Elvis haters wasn’t even around when he died never mind in the 50s and that just shows you their ignorant collection narrative

Wether you like it or not, fact is, is nobody was touched or changed music like Elvis Presley
It didn’t matter he never wrote songs he made them his own it didn’t matter that wasn’t a virtuoso on the guitar that didn’t matter

What mattered is what was important, that Elvis with him mixing white with black creating rockabilly was the spearhead of the new genre of beat music that was universal to everyone in Rock and Roll

People forget he was heard before he was seen and they thought he was black and white radio stations wouldn’t play him because of that but Elvis persevered and thankfully the world and music was better for him

Nobody looked like him
Nobody sounded like him
Nobody had it all like him
A hip swivelling guitar playing singing james Dean and marlon Brando
The 50s wasn’t ready for Rock Music but Elvis had other ideas and he kicked down the doors that stopped and segregated blacks from getting seen and heard in the industry

It’s not a coincidence that the black people of his time who lived during his start all highly praises Elvis and the ones that hate him are the history revisionists who have about 5 pubic hairs between them listening to fake narrative that Elvis was a racist just to try and get people not to like him

That’s jealousy and bitterness and biased towards your own kind
Rock and roll Music ain’t like that it’s for everyone, the ghetto hip hop black culture are not very welcoming look at how Eminem is treated in the hip hop circles by rappers who couldn’t even spell his name never mind be better than him

The only people who know the truth about the history of rock and roll are the people who were there
Listen to Rufus Thomas, B.B. King, Jackie Wilson, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard who all give credit to Elvis and know what he was all about and what he actually did to help them and black culture like nobody had ever done, those are the people who will tell you about Elvis
Not chuck D, not any hip hopper because they went around when Elvis died

@Skrimzis the rat Yes! There were other black artists before Chuck Berry. But Mr. Berry was one of the first to bring all of those already existing elements together that helped to shape the foundation of what Rock 'n' Roll music really is. And that is why he is one of the fathers of Rock 'n' Roll.
