He was for two times finalist of the Microfonia contest, a festival which intention is to find the best in new contemporary music, and was nominated for Best New Artist in the Recife Rock Awards 2004. Johnny has also played with great names of Brazilian pop and underground music through the years such as Los Hermanos, Cachorro Grande, Mombojó, Vamoz!, Mellotrons, and Montage. In 2007 Johnny Hooker made a guest appearance in the Rec Beat Festival, the largest independent music festival of Recife worldwide known carnival.
