It is mainly composed of ballads and mid-tempo songs and produced five singles which were all top ten hits in France, including "Fuck Them All" and "L'Amour N'Est Rien..." It reached number-one on the French, Belgian and Russian albums charts and it was a top-10 hit in Greece, Switzerland, Estonia and Israel.
The track listing includes 14 tracks plus one hidden track. All Lyrics are written by Mylène herself and music is composed by Laurent Boutonnat excluding "L'Amour N'Est Rien...", composed by both Mylène and Laurent Boutonnat. The whole album is produced by Laurent Boutonnat.
Musically this album is more acoustic and electronic than the previous. The style is the same, but the sound evolve more acoustic sounds mixed with electronic elements and keyboards. The piano, acoustic guitar and keyboard are the main instruments used. Synthesized strings are used in almost every song to give this distinctive soft and ethereal sound of the album. Farmer's voice has a more natural sound than usual as she many times sings in low notes.
Lyrically the album deals with the "apprehension of a woman facing the death with after all the satisfaction to have loved". It mainly talks of sex, death and religion. The lyrics are "slightly disturbing", "sometimes important" and there is some "humor". About the album's content, Farmer said : "I very selfishly continue to talk about me, my shadows, my lights".
The album was supported by a series of 13 concerts at Paris-Bercy in January 2006.
