The music under the MinimusNoah name usually has a slightly different sound depending on the release, but it usually gravitates towards downtempo music. He has been producing music since mid-2016 and releasing music under MinimusNoah since early 2018. As of Mid-2021, he has 1 full-length album, two mixtapes, and an EP under the MinimusNoah name; he has another EP in the works.
In mid-2016 while messing around playing games, one of Noah's friends introduced him to a launchpad app for mobile devices. Noah took interest in this because, at that point, he was wanting to produce music but never had the means to. The first material from Noah was actually under the name Phazer765 instead of MinimusNoah. All of this early Phazer765 material only resides on SoundCloud, as the launchpad app had a function to export recordings directly to the platform.
After creating two EPs under the Phazer765 name, Abstract and Terminal, Noah decided to take a break from making music. This break lasted until Indiana's snow-filled, cold winter of late 2017, where Noah took over the name of MinimusNoah and decided to create his first mixtape, Views. Inspired by records like Bath's Obsidian (2013) and Björk's Vulnicura (2015), as well as the outside's cold atmosphere, Noah made the project one of his darker efforts; with black and white visuals and bleak track names to match. However, Views isn't all dark and despondent, with it containing multiple life-affirming tracks and sounds. Views was released in 2018.
A few months after the release of Views, Noah immediately started work on his second effort, which would eventually become the 37-minute, 8-track mixtape Bog. Bog is a collection of songs Noah was making around the time that all paint a dreamier atmosphere than Noah's previous works. The project was originally proposed to have 14-15 tracks and be over an hour long, but as the process went on, it was shortened down to a much more compact 8 tracks. The process of making Bog was one that broke away from the launchpad-oriented style he was making music from at that point, with Bog being part launchpad loops and part FL Studio production. The project was released on July 12, 2019 and it was the first official release of his to be under his NJOM imprint, with NJOM being the label Noah currently self-releases music under.
A month after Bog, Noah released the some other songs compilation on his birthday. some other songs was originally a 17-song compilation containing material that, up until that point, was unreleased. The compilation is now a Bandcamp-exclusive, with Noah adding new songs to it whenever they come about; the current iteration of some other songs is now 34 songs and over two hours. In October, he released Ruins / Two Naturals, a double single containing the opener and closer to an abandoned album he started at the time.
The rest of 2019 was spent as a sort of limbo period for Noah; he didn't release any music but was instead experimenting behind the scenes with some new production styles. He started multiple albums during this time, approximately 5. All of them were scrapped.
2020 in the MinimusNoah world served as a sort of transition period, with many musical experiments being released during the year. As the covid-19 pandemic caused Noah and many other people to stay inside almost 24/7, Noah completely broke free from the launchpad production, and tried out a completely new DAW, Ableton. The fruits of this effort resulted in Noah starting work on his first official debut album, as well as a new set of singles being released, mainly three: Mizugorou, Kabigon, and Ember, as well as a few SoundCloud releases on his MinimusNoah account. At the end of the year he also released the single Cascade, a piano-based song which is featured on the music group Ecostämma's debut EP ÄT-EP1.
In an effort to do something different, Noah's first official full-length album, Organica served as a completely originally-produced departure from loop-based material with a more minimal and nature-based sound. The album was made over the course of a year, spanning from March of 2020 to February 2021. The complete switch-up in DAW programs caused Organica to have a "more minimal and clear sound palette" when compared to Noah's other efforts, which was a somewhat purposeful decision due to the album's nature-themed sound and aesthetic. Much like Bog, Organica was originally projected to have 14 tracks, however the album got shortened to a slightly shorter 11 tracks. The album was announced in early February 2021, and was released a month later, on March 19th.
Noah now makes completely original music in Ableton, and is currently making an EP that is set to release within the year.
On the visual arts side of things, Noah has put together every single cover and piece of promotional material for his music (with the exception of Cascade's cover art being made by fellow musician Subcosmos). Noah's art and photography style typically revolves around nature and geometry, with lots of his covers containing shapes and patterns cutting into photographs of trees, skies, and other natural scenery he has taken. Noah's art style is mainly inspired by Tycho's style of graphic design and photography under ISO50.
