Perfect Day
Miriam Stockley Lyrics

The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move everything is still
It's just a perfect day

The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day

On the wild and misty hillside
Fear is nature's warning
Hunger here is never far away

And all of this world
Is for children who play
Days that never end always should remain
Another perfect day

I feel the same way for Ireland and the United States . . .

Even though my country made me the person that i am today, i can't help but feel like i would have a better life if my homeland were those 2 places. I recently visited Ireland and I never felt happier in my life before. I believe that's because I am closer to my mom than my father and because i went to an English school for most of my academic years thus i started to write, speak and read English better than my native language. That alienated me and my brother as third country children due to our mix heritage. When my brother went off to Yale university, he thought he would blend in just right but because he didn't grew up in the U.S., he didn't believe he belonged there either.

I genuinely believe that my family would be much happier in the U.S. if my father didn't move back to his country for his military service and his semi-abusive father. My parents wouldn't have divorced, my brother and I would have have a better upbringing and an easier time due the U.S. being multicultural and we could have been more in touch with mom's side of the family like our grandparents, 3 uncles, 3 aunts and 8 cousins.

Either living in America or Ireland, we could appreciate our father's motherland even more than before and be more proud of it due to its enormous history, culture and legacy as the fatherland of Western Civilization. It is a beautiful country and a popular vacation hotspot among tourists. It's nice to visit but horrible to live here.

Sorry for the small essay but I just had to let this out. I think we tend to long for things that are absent in our lives and fantasize what-if scenarios.

Arggg,
The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move, everything is still
It's just a perfect day

The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day

On the wild and misty hillside

Fear is nature's warning
Hunger here is never far away

And all of this world
Is for children who play
Days that never end, always should remain
Another perfect day

Seriously, thumbs up for anyone and everyone who looked for this song because of  childhood memories of Beatrix Potter stories. :)

I actually just started to try to teach myself how to play this on Piano too,(by ear!!!) so I'm really excited.

I’m a 22 year old dude who cries every time I hear this. Reminds me of being 5 years old watching the TV series at my grandparents house

Eve Groult

same but in my 30s

31 year old over here. Every time I hear this it throws me back to my grandparents living room watching Peter Rabbit tales. Nostalgia is beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking at times x

My maternal grandmother introduced the TV series to me and I loved this song. Read the books too.
