The first verse of the song Si è spento il sole is expressing the feelings of the singer who has just experienced a heartbreak. The sun in his heart has been extinguished because of the person he loved. There will never be another summer of love for him. The following lines are full of sadness, describing how the days are cold and nights are dark for him. He feels like he has lost all the light and warmth from his life.
The second verse brings up the memories of their past. They met on a warm sea, but this memory brings him only pain now. A cold wind blows and it intensifies the ache in his heart. The white moon they once enjoyed dreaming together has slowly vanished like the golden sun. The chorus begins with the message that life is dying in the shadows of these memories, in the silence of his thoughts. Even though the summer has ended, he still loves this person.
Finally, in the last few lines, the singer shares that the reason for the extinguished sun in his heart is the person he loves. They left him for someone else. However, he doesn't want to fall in love again and doesn't want to search for anyone else. The final words suggest that he will try to live without this person and move on in his life, but at the same time, he knows that he won't be able to love someone else the way he loved this person.
