The song 時には昔の話を by 加藤登紀子 talks about reminiscing about the past and the memories associated with it. The first verse describes an old familiar coffee shop with a view of chestnut trees outside the window. The lines "見えない明日を むやみにさがして 誰もが希望をたくした" resonate with the idea that everyone had hopes and dreams, but were uncertain if they could achieve them. The lyrics go on to talk about the difficult times during the era where everyone struggled, but also found joy in being together. The line "どこにも行けない みんなで お金はなくても なんとか生きてた" describes the community and camaraderie they shared despite their financial struggles. The memories mentioned in the song include sleeping on the side of the road and loud parties in small rented rooms. The song also touches on the idea that some of the friendships and dreams from that time may have been left behind, but there is still hope for the future.
Overall, the song is a message of nostalgia and hope. It highlights the struggles and memories that make up a person's past, but also emphasizes that hope and dreams continue to motivate people in the present.

I can‘t understand Japanese, but I can feel this song. It’s like when I am old, most of my friends have gone, and I am sitting in a pub drinking a whiskey, looking at the pictures hanging on the wall about my friends and me when we were young.

the title is "toki ni wa mukashi no hanashi wo", or just "toki ni wa" for short.
it was composed by "joe hisaishi" (famous for his music in studio ghibli films) for the movie "porco rosso".
this video wasnt made by this channel, they're just reuploading. glad you like the music though. maybe you should watch the movie sometime, or listen to more "joe hisaishi" music
