Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tuae, Jesus.

Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Ora pro nobis
Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae

Overall Meaning

Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria" is a prayerful song to the Virgin Mary, a beautiful ode to the mother of Jesus. The song begins with the words "Ave Maria," or "Hail Mary," a phrase that is familiar to Catholics around the world. The song praises Mary, the mother of Jesus, as full of grace and blessed among women. The second stanza asks Mary to pray for us sinners, in life and in death, and to intercede on our behalf before God. The calming melody and peaceful lyrics create a soothing atmosphere, invoking feelings of serenity and hope.

I was catholic from the day I was baptized.
I went to church everyday with my parents and sit, stood and kneeled.
I had to learn the prayers like “our father” and know them by heart.
Then I went to catholic school...
It was when I lost faith in the catholic religion.
Our teacher would smack us on the back of the neck with a wooden ruler.
She would slam books on our desks if we seemed as if we weren’t paying attention.
She would throw dry erasers at us if we spoke during school.
I saw other kids get their cheeks squeezed so hard (digging her fingers into their cheek so they couldn’t talk, but they cry a muffled cry through their mouths), for the smallest of things, and while she would do that she’d yell/talk in a loud voice at my classmates, right in their face, and nobody said a word about it?
It was because we were genuinely scared of her.
This was something that was normal in catholic school, but not to this extent.
Then one day she decided to do the same to me when I was sick, and coughed during a prayer, and she glared at me and stormed over and did the exact same.
She squeezed my cheeks so hard that it left bruises and finger nail cuts on my face, and she said “You will not make another sound!”.
And I had to sit out of the prayer.
I cane home and my parents saw the bruises and asked me how it happened, so I told them,
and they pulled me out of the school finally....Along with my sisters, and even my best friends parents did the same with him.

After I got older, I started to hear the child molesting from the priests around the county, and most were alter boys that they targeted.
It was the final straw with the catholic religion for me.

That happened when I was 8, and now I’m in my 40’s with a child of my own.
Her religion is up to her, and I won’t push anything on her like I was.

However, if it makes others happy, then that’s all that matters.
That goes for any religion in my eyes.
If it makes you a better and happier person, then I’m all for it.

Here after The Batman... Wasn't expecting to see this piece of music used as a motif for the riddler but here we are! The movie was a masterpiece! And Ave Maria is, of course, a timeless classic.
