Feral Love
Chelsea Wolfe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your eyes, black like an animal
Deep in the wander
And care for no one but the offspring of your might
Run from the one who comes to find you
Wait for the night that comes to hide
Your eyes black like an animal
Black like an animal
Crossing the water
Lead them to die
We press for the water, press for the river, press for the rain
We press for the water, press for the river, press for the pain
The lyrics of Chelsea Wolfe's song Feral Love are deeply metaphorical, describing someone who lives on the fringes of society and culture, beyond the constraints of civilization. The opening lines "Run from the light, your eyes black like an animal" seem to suggest that the singer is fleeing from something, perhaps the judgement and scrutiny of mainstream society. This is reinforced by the following lines "Deep in the wander, and care for no one but the offspring of your might," which depict the singer as a solitary figure, fiercely independent and only concerned with their own survival.
The chorus of the song "Crossing the water, lead them to die" is more enigmatic, but seems to suggest a willingness to sacrifice everything in order to maintain one's freedom and autonomy. The repeated refrain "We press for the water, press for the river, press for the rain, we press for the water, press for the river, press for the pain" reinforces this idea, suggesting that the singer is willing to endure hardship and suffering in order to live life on their own terms.
Overall, the song is a powerful evocation of the primal, wild aspects of human nature, and the struggle to resist the forces of conformity and conformity.

This girl embodies the true timeless goth spirt, and her imagination is off the charts, havent seen anything like this in a long time, great work , ive seen 5 of these videos and there all flawless, also liked the witches in mer, the music is as haunting as the films, and that voice, like nothing human, best wishes.

because you want her to yourself. shes had kids and breasted them openly

She’s not quite “goth.” But she’s not quite anything else definable either.

Incels generally aren’t good at identifying women, so it’s not surprising you think she’s a dude. 🤪

What an absolute queen. She's such a throwback to perfect, classic goth I listened to in high school. I love her so much.

I feel ya.

She’s not quite Goth though; more rock n roll in her sound than that. But however one categorizes it, it’s great! She’s got a unique sound that’s hard rock and yet brings in EBM and even folk influences that really works.

I’ve been into dark music since 1990. Never liked any of the hard hards referring to goth this and goth that. You are what you are and the music is what it is. Those Same people are always insufferable and never know when something’s cool unless they’re told. Or dismiss great music or art because someone doesn’t look quote Goth. 😂 I snubbed all the goths at school. They listened to horrible whiney emo music Except the obvious bands everyone knows is great.
