I am in Spain on vacation and just learned that Jimmy Seals passed away yesterday age 80. Huge fan of Seals & Crofts. Saw them numerous times in concert. Always great. Great albums too. Great harmonies. I am super bummed about this. Saw England Dan and John Ford Coley in concert too. England Dan was Jimmy's brother and later became a country star. He passed several years ago. Jimmy Seals was one of the best entertainers I ever saw in concert. I think the song Summer Breeze is pure genius.

The thing I really like about this song is that it doesn’t waste its time with pointless fillers in between parts and bridges of the song. It’s a constant rhythm and every second of the song is in a line capturing the feeling it’s supposed to give off, not a second wasted.

Sweet, I remember in the early seventies driving through the deserted desert in the summer with the windows open wide and this song playing on the radio. I could feel and see a house with a big tree, a woman in the kitchen after a days hard work.And the expressions made in the song of those feelings in day to day relations. Nicely done. Came here upon hearing of Jim Seal's passing. This song was the theme to my prom (1973). I got to see them perform at Tanglewood in Lenox Massachusetts in the 70's. They sat on the front of the stage after the show and spoke with the fans for quite a while. This was at the height of their popularity. Different times, I guess. RIP Mr. Seals. Thanks for the music.

You are ahead of the game Faith5x! It took me many years to realize that great songs are great songs, no matter when they were made. When I was your age, I thought of songs before I was born as being unsophisticated, "old timey" music. Once I became a musician myself, I "discovered" all these incredibly talented players and singers from before my time. They had the chops!

Remember, this song and all the others of this era were made long before digital recording, the ability to fix a single wrong note in pro-tools, auto-tune, quantizing the drummers beat, etc. You rolled tape and played your song, so what you hear is exactly what they played/sang without any studio tricks. Mess up, and you gotta do it over from the beginning. When you consider that, it's even more amazing!

I saw them in 1975 and they were excellent of course. One amazing skill Seals had besides his music is that he was able to make three sounds at the same time. It seems impossible but I remember he said that he learned it from an older relative. He did this on one of the albums, does anyone know about this? RIP, certainly a spiritual man.

Would like to suggest it to the community choir I'm in but can't find an a capella sheet music arrangement that looks right. For reason I was prompted here after meeting a 16 year old girl who was working at Walgreens and her name was "Jasmine."
