Members:
Koumoto Hiroto (甲本ヒロト) – Vocal
Mashima Masatoshi (真島昌利) – Guitar
Shirabe Sakito (調先人) – Bass
Oshima Kenji (大島賢治) – Drums
Shirai Mikio (白井幹夫) – Keyboard
This lineup remained intact until 2003, when keyboardist Shirai Mikio left the band. The following year ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓ cut their ties to Universal Music, and Koumoto and Mashima formed HAPPYSONG RECORDS, their very own record label with ties to BMG Japan, which has since distributed their releases. After announcing their disbandment in late 2005, Koumoto and Mashima decided to form another punk rock band together, and ended up naming it ザ・クロマニヨンズ (The Cro-Magnons).

These lyrics are from the song "Namake Daijin" by ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓. The song expresses a desire for a carefree and lazy lifestyle. The lyrics start with the desire to read manga, drink beer, and listen to stereo, as well as the desire to do something good without any hassle or complicated procedures. The repetitive line "面倒な手続きなしで" (mendou na tetsuzuki nashi de) means "without any troublesome procedures" and emphasizes the longing for a life free of complications and obligations.
The lyrics continue with a strong desire to say goodbye to annoying or troublesome things and people, again highlighting the desire for simplicity and freedom from burdensome situations. The title "Namake Daijin" can be translated as "Lazy Minister" or "Lazy Prime Minister," further emphasizing the theme of laziness and reluctance to engage in unwanted responsibilities.
The song also mentions the character 大臣 (daijin), which means "minister" or "prime minister," and 大大臣 (dai daijin), which means "big minister" or "prime minister." These titles are likely used metaphorically to represent the longing for a position of power where one can be lazy and wait for good fortune without having to exert much effort.
Overall, "Namake Daijin" is a playful and relatable song that expresses the desire for a carefree and effortless lifestyle, where one can simply enjoy their favorite activities and avoid burdensome tasks or obligations.
