Lyrics

Do you know how many tears I have cried? No, no, no
Will I die free from this pain? Can't explain, no, no, no
Why did I cross borderlines walking blind? No, no, no
Do you know how many tears I have cried? No, no, no
Don't you see how many fears burn inside? No, no, no
Don't like this feeling blue all the time
(Natsu no Hi no Shounen), the lyrics depict a sense of self-reflection and disillusionment. The opening lines describe the singer's reflection in a dirty mirror, symbolizing their own flaws and imperfections. They find themselves kneeling in front of the fireplace of happiness, but instead of finding solace, they are fueling it with lies and compromises. This could represent their desperation to maintain a facade of contentment and conformity.
The following lines express a fear of getting hurt, leading the singer to avoid loving others. They conceal their true nature behind smiles, pretending to be someone they are not, and using the intimidation tactics of a tiger to navigate their interactions. The repetition of the question "Do you know how many tears I have cried? No, no, no" emphasizes their isolation and the inability of others to understand their pain. Similarly, they ask if anyone sees the fears burning inside them, but again, the answer is no. This highlights the notion of becoming an adult without love, consumed by a world devoid of compassion.
The chorus poses a farewell to the dreamy boy of summer days and wonders what that young version of oneself would think of the current state. The singer contemplates whether they will eventually be free from the pain they feel and questions the purpose of their existence. The repetition of "No, no, no" suggests their frustration at the lack of answers to these existential doubts. The song concludes with a lament over constantly feeling a melancholic, blue state.
Overall, the lyrics of 夏の日の少年 touch upon themes of inner conflict, societal pressures, the struggle to maintain authenticity, and the longing for understanding and connection.
