His initial album "That Much Closer To The Sun", released in 2004 on Liquid Sound Design, was an album that appealed to both fans of psychedelic and balearic chillout.
His following release, four years later, on Modus Records "We Share The Same Dreams" introduced more of an electro feel and was followed by a free digital mix "The Jaguar Sessions".
2010 saw another release on Modus Records, entitled Prisms.
Nightwalker
Abakus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Go ahead. Light it up.
George Hanson:
Oh, no, no, no...
George Hanson:
... l couldn't do that.
George Hanson:
... with the booze and all.
L can't afford to get hooked.
Captain America:
You won't get hooked.
George Hanson:
Well, l know.
But it leads to harder stuff. (X2)
The lyrics of Abakus's "Nightwalker" refer to a conversation between two characters, Captain America and George Hanson, that takes place in the movie "Easy Rider", which the song samples. The first line of the lyrics is Captain America's prompt for George to light up a joint, which George initially refuses to do because of his issues with alcohol. However, Captain America insists that George won't get hooked, but George expresses concern that smoking marijuana could lead to harder drugs.
The lyrics highlight the stigma and misconceptions surrounding marijuana use, particularly during the time period in which "Easy Rider" was released (1969). While Captain America seemingly perceives smoking marijuana as a harmless, recreational activity, George is hesitant to partake due to society's negative perception of the drug and the potential consequences of use.
Overall, the lyrics could speak to the idea of individual choice and the various factors that can influence an individual's decision to partake in drug use, as well as the ramifications and societal attitudes towards drug use.
