Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Bucket Full of Hate
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're following your script,
Trying to hide your anger
I see a cheap facade upon your face, to cover your distaste
It can't confine your rancor
Extend your olive branch, but its all full of thorns
You're talking peace, but in your eyes
Bucket full of hate, (hate)
You're coming under false pretense,
You're trying to make amends, it's a counterfeit production
Yeah this performance is just a sham, it's nothing but a scan
A bogus reconstruction
Extend your olive branch, its just a masquerade
Your talkin' peace and love,
You try to camouflage your animosity
You're getting crushed beneath the weight,
Of a bucket full of hate, (bucket full of hate)
A bucket full of hate, (bucket full of hate)
Bucket full of hate, hate !!!
The lyrics to Accept's song Bucket Full of Hate convey a story of false pretense, deceit, and hidden anger. The song speaks to someone who has a smile on their lips that is reminiscent of Judas, indicating a sense of betrayal. The subject of the song is hiding their hatred with a cheap facade on their face, trying to conceal their distaste but failing to contain their rancor. The singer can see through the deceptive actions of the subject, and all the subject's actions are just a counterfeit production. The performance that the subject is putting on is a sham, and everything the subject is saying is a false representation.
The song's chorus urges the subject to extend an olive branch, but the singer is aware that it's all a masquerade. The subject is talking about peace and love, but their eyes reveal a bucket full of hate. The subject is trying to camouflage their animosity, but they are getting crushed beneath the weight of their hate. The song exposes the idea that one can't hide their true feelings under a smile, and that hate almost always reveals itself. Overall, the song serves as a warning to those who pretend to be something they are not, as their true feelings will inevitably reveal themselves.
