Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

On a Saturday night
Big black Cadillac, jumper cables in the back
Ooh,I'm a rock star
Twenty-seven Marshalls, nothing in the back
Ooh,we make a lot of noise
The chicks kiss your ass for a backstage-pass
Rich and famous, twenty-five guitars
A million dollar car
Rich and famous, golden records on the wall
Platinum we want it all
We want it all and all
A Maserati, a Harley, a place in Beverly
We want it all and all
Yeah tell me now, ain't rock 'n' roll wonderful
I got myself accountants to handle my affairs
Managers, lawyers, insurance on my hair
Blew a fortune on a video for MTV
To see it once at half past three a.m.
Rich and famous, twenty-five guitars
A million dollar car
Rich and famous, golden records on the wall
Platinum we want it all
We want it all and all
A Maserati, a Harley, a place in Beverly
We want it all and all
Yeah tell me now, ain't rock 'n' roll wonderful
Ain't rock 'n' roll wonderful
Rich and famous, twenty-five guitars
A million dollar car
Rich and famous, golden records on the wall
Platinum we want it all
We want it all and all
A Maserati, a Harley, a place in Beverly
We want it all and all
Yeah tell me now, ain't rock 'n' roll wonderful
We want it all
Twenty-five guitars, a million dollar car
We want it all
Golden records on the wall, platinum we want it all
Ain't rock 'n' roll wonderful

The song “Rich and Famous” by Accept is an ode to the excesses of the rock and roll lifestyle. The lyrics describe a rock star’s life, cruising in a limo down the Sunset Strip on a Saturday night, twenty-seven Marshall amps, nothing in the back, chicks kissing your ass for a backstage pass, all to achieve the ultimate goal; money, cars, and fame.
The chorus is an outright declaration of the band’s desire to acquire everything that comes with rock and roll success. “Rich and famous, twenty-five guitars, a million-dollar car, golden records on the wall, platinum we want it all” The song also pokes fun at the ridiculousness of some of the expenses that rock stars indulge in, such as accountants to handle their affairs, managers, lawyers, and even insurance on their hair. The song ends on a note of triumph, with the band proclaiming that rock and roll is indeed wonderful.
Overall, “Rich and Famous” is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the excesses of the rock and roll lifestyle, and a testament to the desire for fame and riches that drives many musicians.
