Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Twist Of Fate
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Somewhere between heaven and hell
A blank slate that the world gets to write on
Pick up the chalk and get out of your shell
Now and then, you know you got to ramble
Get out, out of your comfort zone
Sometimes you have to take a gamble
You might do better with the devil you know
There's a man sized hole in the ocean
Just a waiting there to suck you in
So before you go raising a commotion
Think twice about where you swim
So be careful what you wish for
You might get it, and then it's too late
The future's knocking at the front door
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late make no mistake
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late what lies in wait
Out beyond the gates
Sometimes you put your hand in the fire
Take a chance and you don't get burned
Other times you get tripped by a wire
They watch you dance, it's a lesson learned
So be careful what you wish for
You just might get it, and then it's too late
The future's knocking at your front door
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late make no mistake
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late what lies in wait
Could be a twist of fate
Too late make no mistake
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late make no mistake
Beware now the twist of fate
Too late what lies in wait
It's a twist of fate
The lyrics of "Twist of Fate" by Accept pose as a warning to people to be cautious in their undertakings because the universe often has a funny way of turning things around. The first verse speaks of how everyone has their own paths in life, and it is essential to break out of one's cocoon once in a while to explore these paths. The lyrics imply that some risks are unavoidable because we live in a world that is not entirely under our control, and sometimes the devil known is better than the one unknown. The chorus then comes in to reiterate the need to be careful what we wish for, for the future holds the twist of fate that could change everything.
The second verse of the song takes a darker tone in addressing the dangers and unknowns people face daily. It speaks to a larger audience, warning them of the "man-sized hole in the ocean" that lies waiting to claim its next victim. It warns us to think twice before drawing attention to oneself and to be wary of where we swim. The lyrics remind us that sometimes, we put our hands in the fire and come out unscathed, but other times, we trip on the wire and end up with burns.
Accept's "Twist of Fate" holds a message of caution that we should all heed as we navigate life. The song warns us not to take everything at face value but instead to be careful about the choices we make. The lyrics suggest that while some risks may be unavoidable, making informed decisions that mitigate as much risk as possible is always best.
